Signature Experience – Cuba NYE Rumba

Festivals and events provide much inspiration for travel. Travellers love the idea of building a program around local festivals and events.

Cuba is on everyone’s radar and what better place to plan a visit that is linked to a festival – celebrating amidst latin music, dance food and revelry. Cuba has a rich mix of music, dance, and cultural festivals throughout the year – the hard part will be which one to pick!

Christmas and New Year is always an interesting time to travel, providing the opportunity to experience how different cultures celebrate. Cuba is no exception and has a rich mix of festivals and celebrations over two weeks.  This definitely won’t be your traditional roast and pudd…but will see you  dining on roasted pig, fried plaintains, black beans and rice,  rice pudding, and rum cake for Noche Buena!

Remedios is a small 18th century town famous for its Las Parrandas de Remedios (Christmas festival), considered the oldest in Cuba. Celebrations include street parties with rumba, percussion ensembles, music, float displays and a dramatic fireworks competition.

New Year’s festivities center on the capital La Habana. The best place in town is the Cathedral Plaza in old Havana enjoying wine champagne, beer and all sorts of spirits including Habana club rum! Here they host a tropicana style outdoor music and dance show. Fireworks are of course the finale to end all finales as another year arrives and the fiesta rages into the night.
